Here is a quick update to share a few highlights from our very active school  as well as upcoming events in the next two months…. school website

Promoting Healthy Active Kids!

We are very proud of the many ongoing extracurricular activities offered by the staff for our students throughout the year.  The Spring options include: ‘Hackergals’ Coding Club; Girls YOGA; Gr 5-6 ‘Debate’ Club; Gr 1-3 SketchBook Club; Gr 6-8 Art Club; Gr 4-8 ‘Hair’ Club; Grade 4-8 Green Screen Video Club; as well as the ongoing Glee and Concert Band.

Many sports opportunities with new intramurals [where everyone is invited] include - the [gr 1-3] ‘NHL’ shootout; ‘21’ Basketball Competition [gr7-8] and [gr 4-6] ‘Basketball Golf’.  Soccer is coming in May!

Our School Basketball Teams completed a very enjoyable regular season and have playoff games next week...later this Spring, students can tryout for Track/Field, and Jr Relays….. go Tigers!

April is ‘Earth Day’ Month   Students are constantly encouraged to be ‘good stewards’ of the Earth and at school, the classroom community is a mini-version of our larger neighbourhood effort.  Green Carts, Blue Boxes, and Garbage Bins are in every classroom to help teach these important skills and help ‘make a difference’. On April 21, the whole school will participate in ‘Community Cleanup’, as part of that week long Burlington Initiative.

Technology Update

Updating the school’s IT resources is an ongoing priority to aid student learning.  We are pleased to share the following additions this year in the school:

  • Purchase of an additional 60 chromebooks for classroom use

  • Installation of six additional ‘Access Points’ to increase the school bandwidth

  • Installation of ceiling mounted data projectors in every classroom

  • A portable ‘document camera’ in every classroom

JumpStart K-8  ‘Play Day’ May 24th

Thanks to the generosity of the Canadian Tire JumpStart Program,  Tecumseh has graciously accepted an opportunity to collaborate with their team to plan a special event ‘active playday’ for all of our K-8 students on May 24th at the school.   Students will be rotating through stations run by active volunteers that day, promoting a healthy lifestyle for kids!
